“I’m so ADD”, they say
and I laugh
It’s not an adjective
You can’t “be” it
Do they know what it’s like?
To have a chorus of thoughts,
all at one time?
Or to force their minds to cling to every word of the professor,
but still get lost in the lecture?
Do they experience the inability
to turn off their minds?
Or to be incapable of completing homework
without taking a pill?
To have thoughts like a shiny, round bubble
that pop before you can catch them?
Or to be a victim and causation
of so much frustration?
To hear impatient sighs when asking,
“Can you please repeat that?”
Maybe they would…
if they just paid attention.
